Route to independence: how can people living with dementia continue to travel independently following a dementia diagnosis?

Finally, we have given a grant to a new project, the “ECRED/Alumni bubble”. This is a partnership between the Alumni (a Scottish based group in the DEEP network) and ECRED (Edinburgh Centre for Research on the Experience of Dementia). They will be exploring how together they can create more power and control in relationships that people with dementia have with academics. They will also be investigating and developing research ideas; and empowering more people living with dementia to benefit from University experiences, research and conference opportunities.

Our legacy

As the programme comes to an end (at least in this phase) in December 2022, we are now focusing on our legacy and impact. We all agree that we have learnt so much – and that we need to share this learning as widely as we can so that others can build on it. We have various plans… but please do not hesitate to contact us if you have your own suggestions.

You can watch a short film of the recent discussion we had with Pioneers and Advisors here.

And finally

We’d like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and New Year, and thank you for all your support over the past year. If you have any queries, thoughts, inspirations or anything at all, please email Rachael at rachael@myid.org.uk or call her on 01392 420076.

And don’t forget you can find all the Dementia Enquirers resources here. These include a free research pack; the DEEP-Ethics Gold Standards; podcasts; webinars; short films; audio Diaries and all previous newsletters.

We look forward to talking with you all again soon

Stay safe, stay strong, stay connected
